My Christmas tree is full of hand painted ornaments made by me or given to me by my sister who used to paint and also from friends that I have made swaps with. I love painting ornies and I thought I'd share some with you that I have painted over the years. Please click on images for larger view.
and this ornie is made from a strainer and I added a dirty old sock for a hat. I'm just kidding the sock isn't dirty I just dyed it to make it look that way LOL.
I cut this Santa out of wood then ripped up a bunch of muslin strips that have been dyed then glued them all to create his beard. I added a rusty bell to the tip of his hat, some greenery and berries and tucked in a candy cane that has also been wrapped in muslin and sprinkled a bit of diamond dust to add some bling. It was a long process but I really like how he turned out. I hope you will like him too!
Happy Thanksgiving to all my American Friends. Gobble 'til you Wobble LOL.
We've had our Thanksgiving a month ago but I wanted to say that I am very thankful
to all the friends I've made online. You're the best!!!
I wanted to show you a skate I finished painting. I painted the background a dark
red then added a snowman and a few sheep. I laced it up with some red homespun fabric.

I painted this small sled yesterday with a snowman and bird resting on his long carrot nose.
I added a piece of homespun to hang it. Please click on image for a larger view.
I love drinking hot chocolate on a cold autumn or winter day. I enjoy mine topped with whipped cream and chocolate sauce Mmmmmm!!! I always take these elves out when I decorate for the holidays. One is holding some tiny marshmallows, one is holding a sign and the other one is holding a cup. I also added a bell to their hats. My nephew Patrick loves these guys. I hope you enjoy them too!
A guy dropped into my shop last week and asked me if I could paint a sign for him. He wants to hang it in the basement entrance with some small chains. He has a stone fireplace and bar downstairs. All the letters are done with a paint brush no stencils were used then I shaded each letter and painted a bottle of wine and wine glass with a little wine inside. I then sanded the sign paying more attention to the edges then antiqued it. He wanted the same design on both sides. I hope he will like it.
I just love this snowman who is wearing a coat which is way too big for him. I painted him on a jar then added a small tree and decorated it with clear lights, homespun bows and strands of raffia.
Click on image below to see a closeup of the snowman.
Here's a simple sign I painted. I don't use stencils so all the lettering is done with my paint brush. I then painted a mitten with a heart and added a few snowflakes.
Here's a cute little snowman that I painted in a metal muffin cup. There's some blue homespun to hang in your tree as an ornament.
This is one of the items I showed you in my stash of trash to treasures in a previous post. I decided to paint a snowman on this small coffee pot. I then added snow here and there and also attached a tag with homespun.
I cut out this sled top which measures 16" long x 9" wide then I glued and nailed it together. I then painted a snowman wearing a long winter coat and scarf. Please drop in tomorrow to see a small coffee pot I painted.
I painted this sign which is 4 feet long by 1 foot wide for a customer who will put this in her hairdressing salon.
I grabbed my can of clear spray to give it a few coats of varnish and start panicking when I see this
I grabbed grey spray paint instead of clear, both cans are blue. Can you imagine my horror when I saw grey on the sign I had just finished painting? Has this ever happened to you? I recommend to everyone to read labels I know I will. I did manage to fix the sign and here it is
Here are some cool friends hanging out together behind their favorite word "SNOW". It took awhile to paint this one because of all the detail work involved.
I also like to paint on soap so here's a snowman painted on a bar of soap which can actually be used and the painting will stay on until your soap becomes a sliver but I think most people are afraid to use it and just display it.
This is the before picture of an old rusty funnel that I posted in my trash to treasures post yesterday.
I decided to leave the natural rust as the background color. I then painted a saltbox house, a quilt and a sheep. I then added some cheesecloth, pip berries and a tag. Here's my trash to treasure transformation.
Take a look at all the goodies I got. Some of you might think it's just junk but decorative painters like me know it's the perfect surface to recycle this "so called junk" into one of a kind treasures. Please drop in tomorrow to see the transformation of one of these items.
