Hi everyone, I would like you to meet my new fur baby kitten Harley. She is full of energy when she's not napping LOL. I forgot how much energy kittens have, she climbs, jumps, plays with anything she can get her paws on LOL.

Spicy Pickled Carrots

My favorite nephew texted me the other day asking me if I could make some spicy pickled carrots. They are his favorites. I thought I had more carrots so I'll need to buy more so I can make 6 more jars. They will be ready to eat in a month or so.

Here is the recipe if anyone is interested

Spicy Pickled Carrots

Bring to boil 2 cups vinegar
6 cups water
½ cup pickling salt also called coarse salt

Put in each jar
a couple pieces of garlic clove
couple rings of jalepeno peppers
pinch of red pepper flakes
piece of fresh dill weed
Recipe calls to add a pinch of alum. I looked in several stores but I couldn't find any. Don't think it will make much of a difference.
Now add mini carrots ( 1 bag) to jars
Recipe makes enough for 6 (500ml) jars

Add hot liquid to each jar and wait 1 month or more before eating them.
Enjoy!

Two custom orders finished and received some ornies

I got an order to paint a sign with a grandpa saying and I painted it on a 9x12 canvas. As most of you know I don't use stencils so the lettering was done with my paint brush. Then I had a simple primitive heart to paint. The lady wants to hang it on her mirror dresser. My friends and I are having an ornament swap and here are the ornaments I received from my friend Les.

I would like to share an experience with you all, about drinking and driving. As you well know, some of us have been known to have had brushes with the authorities on our way home from the odd social session over the years.
A couple of nights ago, I was out for a few drinks with some friends and had a few too many beers and some rather nice merlot. Knowing full well I may have been slightly over the limit, I did something I've never done before - I took a bus home.
I arrived home safely and without incident, which was a real surprise, as I have never driven a bus before and am not sure where I got this one.

A customer of mine wanted me to paint soaps with a dog theme on them.

Here is what I came up with. I just need to put several coats of varnish, put them in plastic bags and tie a piece of homespun and they will be ready. I hope she will like them.

I cut out and painted this snow angel ornament out of 1/8" wood using a Cyndi Combs design. I cut out and basecoated and shaded 5 others. I like to paint 6-8 or sometimes 12 but I only finished this one because I'm always anxious to see what it will look like. Now I will finish the details on the rest of them =)

I love this salad that I get at the supermarket. They don't make it often but when they do I buy it. I'm wondering if anyone knows the recipe for this. It's called Pasta Rainbow International Salad. I know there's rainbow pasta, yellow, green, red peppers, some green leaves of some sort, not sure what they are lol, black olives and some kind of dressing. It's expensive to buy so I would like to make my own. Anyone out there know the recipe????

These witch shoes will look great displayed in your home this fall and halloween season. I cut them out of ¾" wood then painted them and distressed them so they would look old. I finished them off with a purple bow that matches the stripes on the shoes. I also added a grubby tag with the words "If the shoe fits..." They are hanging from wire. Pattern by Lynn Barbadora.

Demolition Derby and April Wine

Last night I went to the Navan Fair to watch a demolition derby which was exciting to watch until a young man got injured.
Ottawa firefighters had to use the jaws of life to get him out of his vehicle.
He sustained lower back and neck pain following the incident but I read this morning that he was in stable condition. I was so into watching the derby that I forgot to take pictures except for this one when they were clearing the area for the next vehicles.

I then listened to April Wine and their performance was awesome. The pictures aren't the best but I'll show you anyways.

Went to a pig roast

This past Saturday I went to a pig roast. The pig caught on fire while cooking put they were prepared and threw a huge bucket of water on it. The pig was so tender and delicious, we had good food, live music and fun was had by all but I did get sunburned =(

Six Irishmen

Last month I met 5 Irishmen from Ireland, they came down for a week to ride on rented Harleys with my good friend Dave who is Irish also is pictured on the far left. On their last day here I partied with them at an Irish Pub here in Ottawa until 2:30 in the morning. Irishmen sure know how to drink and have fun lol. A good time was had by all. The next day, Dave and I drove them to the airport to catch their flight back home.

My friend sent me this picture, it's not my dog or hers. It's a dog that lives close to our area. He got the right idea to cool down in this heat wave we're having. I hope you are all keeping cool. I got rid of my old dinosaur phone and purchased an iphone4 and I'm loving it. Anyone want to share their FREE favorite apps with me that they really like. I found one that is called shopshop-shopping list. You'll never forget your shopping list at home. It marks off items like you would do with a pen on a paper list. It also saves your entries so you don't have to retype them to add to your next list. You can also change the size of the font. It's so neat!

Today is my birthday and I received a bunch of birthday wishes from my friends around here and from my friends on facebook. This morning I picked up a $50.00 gift certificate for a leather shop here in Ottawa that I won on a radio station then my friend Jeannette took me out to lunch, the waitress paid us each a beer Woot! Woot! then later tonight Mitch is taking me out for dinner. I'm getting very spoiled and loving every minute of it LOL. Plus it's the first day of summer and it's a gorgeous sunny day! I hope everyone is having a good day too!

Weenie Bite Competition

Mitch and I went to a bike rally Saturday and we participated in the weenie bite competition. A rider runs his bike under a bar with a hot dog covered in mustard
hanging off on a string and their passenger tries to bite off as big of a piece as possible.
The winner of the game is the one who takes the biggest bite without touching the hot dog or the string with their hands and that would of been me =) I had to stand up on the back pegs to be able to reach the weenie and take a bite. We won a $25.00 gift certificate. It was really fun!! Sorry there's no pictures =( you'll have to use your imagination LOL.

*Update* Zoe was found playing golf. She was running after golf balls on Sunday so someone picked her up and brought her home because they were afraid she would get hit by golf balls. We picked her up today and she is back home safely.

Sharing this post about a lost dog. She was last seen on Russell Road in Carlsbad Springs at the end of the driveway.

Zoe is half husky, half corgie.

I've been trying to post this since yesterday but Blogger was having problems =( I finished a custom order sign for one of my customers yesterday while I was at my shop. She will be hanging it above her flat screen t.v. which is 48" so she wanted the sign to measure 56" that's a long sign to paint lol. All lettering is done with my paintbruh and she wanted 5 stars for each member of her family =) I just need to varnish it and put some hangers on the back. The sign is in french it's their last name established in 1990.

It's the first official day of spring today but it looks more like winter over here. We are supposed to get up to 10 cm (4 inches) of you know what. I hope this is the last of the "S" word that I hear in our forecast until next winter. It's a good day to stay in and paint so I'm working on a new e-pattern today. I cut out and built another iron but this time I painted a gingerbread holding a chicken in her arms. I used a design by Niomi Draper. The dress is a light blue and the bow a light green with dots.

I was doing groceries this morning and I made another stop at the thrift store because you never know what they could of brought in since the last time I went which was Monday lol. I found this wooden tray and smaller than usual rolling pin.

I went to Michaels earlier this morning because I needed some paint but of course they didn't have the colors I needed as usual =( I don't know why I even bother stopping in.
The thrift store is right beside it but I wasn't going to drop in then I said to myself.... What if ??? so I went in and only found this rolling pin but it's better than coming out empty handed like I've been doing lately.

My Dad's cats love sitting on top of vehicles. I spotted them yesterday thru my kitchen window sitting on top of his van. At first they were on the tires. Sorry about the quality of the pic it was taken thru my screen window. Hope everyone has a good week!
